Beat The Heat
TXU Energy, Corpus Christi Mission 911, and Community Partners Hosting Fan Distribution, Neighborhood Event
Event will help families in need of assistance to “Beat the Heat”
With summer heat putting additional strain on the most vulnerable Texans, TXU Energy has teamed up with Mission 911 and other community partners to provide relief.
On Monday, July 26, volunteers distributed hundreds of box fans, along with free meals provided by Hester’s, to families in need. The City of Corpus Christi’s Neighborhood Services Team were on hand to connect families to various resources including rental assistance and home repairs. Mayor Paulette M. Guajardo was in attendance.
A team of volunteers from the Port of Corpus Christi joined youth volunteers from Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas, to assist with fan and food distribution.
The fan donation is part of TXU Energy’s signature Beat the Heat program, which partners with community service organizations across the state to help Texans stay cool in the summer and to promote heat safety awareness and energy conservation. Since it began more than 20 years ago, the program has reached thousands of Texans, encouraging them to keep cool and stay safe. This year, TXU Energy is donating $5,000 to provide 200 fans for Corpus Christi-area households in need. No registration is required.
